Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) was established in 1997 under the Turkish Law No. 4281. The university was founded as a private, non-profit institution by the Istanbul Kültür Higher Education Foundation (İstanbul Kültür Eğitim Vakfı - İKEV), an organization dedicated to providing high-quality education in Turkey, with a strong focus on enhancing scientific research and offering advanced educational programs.
Istanbul Kültür University holds an average rank among international universities. It is ranked #601+ in the European university rankings and #401-450 in the QS ranking for universities in Europe and Central Asia (EECA).

Ataköy Campus (Main Campus): The main campus is located in the Ataköy area on the European side of Istanbul, near the Bahçelievler district.
