Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) was established in 1997 under the Turkish Law No. 4281. The university was founded as a private, non-profit institution by the Istanbul Kültür Higher Education Foundation (İstanbul Kültür Eğitim Vakfı - İKEV), an organization dedicated to providing high-quality education in Turkey, with a strong focus on enhancing scientific research and offering advanced educational programs.
Istanbul Kültür University holds an average rank among international universities. It is ranked #601+ in the European university rankings and #401-450 in the QS ranking for universities in Europe and Central Asia (EECA).
Locally, the university holds an acceptable position among Turkish universities, especially since its ranking depends on the quality of education, research, and academic impact. Ataköy Campus (Main Campus): The main campus is located in the Ataköy area on the European side of Istanbul, near the Bahçelievler district. This campus hosts the majority of the faculties and main programs, such as the Faculty of Science and Arts, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and the Faculty of Law.
