About Bahçesehir University University

Bahçeşehir University was founded in 1998 by Turkey's largest private educational foundation, Bahçeşehir Uğur, which is known for its extensive contributions to educational development in Turkey.

As of the latest available data, the university hosts around 30,000 students. Additionally, international students make up about 27% (which is 8000) of the total student body, showcasing the university's global reach and appeal.

Campuses:

Bahçeşehir University has multiple campuses across Istanbul, including:

Beşiktaş North and South Campuses: These are the main campuses and host the bulk of the academic programs. Key faculties located here include the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Communication. The campuses also house the School of Applied Disciplines and the Conservatory.

The North campus primarily focuses on undergraduate education, while the South campus is known for graduate studies and administrative offices.

Both are well-connected, accessible by bus, ferry, and metro. Public transport options include Kabataş tram and ferry stations, as well as the Beşiktaş bus hub.

The university provides a shuttle boat service called BAUPORT, connecting the Beşiktaş and Galata campuses, allowing students to avoid heavy traffic and enjoy Bosphorus views.

Galata Campus: This campus specializes in communication, media studies, and digital arts. It features state-of-the-art facilities for broadcasting, film, and media students, providing practical experience in media production and digital content creation.

Situated near Karaköy. It’s accessible via the Karaköy tram stop and ferry port.

Göztepe Campus: This campus serves students in health sciences. Located on the Asian side, accessible via Marmaray and nearby bus routes.

Future Campuses: Known for its innovative approach to education, this campus offer space for research and specialized programs. Kemerburgaz Campus: This campus is dedicated to medical education, including the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Dentistry. The campus is equipped with modern laboratories and clinical training centers to support hands-on medical training.

Accreditation 

MÜDEK Accreditation: BAU’s engineering departments, such as Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Industrial Engineering, have accreditation from MÜDEK, a Turkish quality assurance association recognized by EUR-ACE, making their degrees internationally accepted.

SABAK Accreditation: Programs such as Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, and Nutrition and Dietetics have national accreditations like SABAK, ensuring adherence to high standards in health education. SABAK is an independent association which has the center in Ankara having no branch office is established for the purpose of contributing to improve the quality of health sciences education programs in different disciplines in Turkey by making accreditation, evaluation and information studies.

CEA (CEFR) Accreditation: Accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, making it a standout in English preparatory programs.

ABET Accreditation: Certain engineering programs are seeking ABET accreditation, which is a hallmark of quality for programs in applied sciences, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.

MİAK (Architectural Accrediting Board) Accreditation: Faculty of Architecture and Design for Architecture Undergraduate Programs.

Also, Bahçeşehir University (BAU) has a partnership with Harvard University through its Institute for Global Understanding of the Rule of Law (IGUL). For example, the partnership has involved studies on the criminal justice system in Turkey and ongoing projects related to cybersecurity. Additionally, IGUL frequently organizes events and training programs with the involvement of experts from Harvard's Kennedy School, contributing to the academic exchange between the institutions.
