About Bilgi University University
Istanbul Bilgi University was founded in 1996 by the Bilgi Education and Culture Foundation. It was established under the Turkish higher education system after the Turkish Grand National Assembly's approval (Law No. 4142). From 2006 to 2019, it was associated with Laureate International Universities, a global education network. In 2019, Can Holding became a supporter of the Bilgi Education and Culture Foundation.

Campuses:
Istanbul Bilgi University operates four main campuses:
Santralistanbul Campus: The primary and largest campus, accommodates the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Communication, Architecture, Social Sciences, and Arts. It also features research facilities and cultural spaces, including studios and laboratories dedicated to media, broadcasting, and engineering. Located in Eyüp, along the Golden Horn. It hosts an Energy Museum and several events annually. Nearby public transportation includes bus routes directly connecting to central areas like Taksim, with the closest metro station being Haliç.
Dolapdere Campus: Accommodates the Faculty of Law and some programs from the Business and Health Sciences faculties. It emphasizes legal studies and healthcare management programs. The campus also includes resources like a moot courtroom for law students. The campus situated in the Beyoğlu district, about a 10-minute walk from Taksim Square, providing access to metro and bus lines.
Kuştepe Campus: This campus is known for its preparatory school and vocational studies. It offers the English Preparatory Program and vocational programs under the School of Advanced Vocational Studies. It supports language training and associate degree education. Located in Şişli, an area central to Istanbul, with numerous bus stops and a metro station Mecidiyeköy nearby.
Kozyatağı Campus: This campus primarily serves as a base for graduate programs, especially Business Administration (MBA) and other executive education offerings. Located on the Asian side, close to Bağdat Street and Ataşehir, reachable by buses and near the Kozyatağı metro station on the M4 line.
Accreditation
WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC): BİLGİ became the first higher education institution in Turkey accredited by WSCUC, a prestigious U.S.-based accrediting body, emphasizing student-centered learning, quality, academic freedom, and continuous improvement at the institutional level. This accreditation aligns BİLGİ with standards held by prominent universities like UCLA and Stanford.
MÜDEK Accreditation: Several engineering programs, including genetics and bioengineering, have been accredited by MÜDEK, a member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE).
FEDEK Accreditation: Programs in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, such as psychology and mathematics, have been granted accreditation by FEDEK, a Turkish agency focused on the quality assurance of science and arts education.
CEFR Accreditation: The University’s English language programs are accredited by CEA, the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation, demonstrating compliance with international quality standards for English language instruction.

Academic Collaborations: It is a member of international networks such as the European University Association (EUA), Magna Charta Universitatum (Great Charter of Universities) is a short two-page document signed in Bologna, Italy in 1988 explicitly defining key principles underpinning the existence of universities such as academic freedom and institutional autonomy. The charter was established by the University of Bologna and the European Rectors' Conference (now EUA) in 1988, to mark the 900th anniversary of the University of Bologna, with 388 original signatories. As of 2024 it has been signed by 975 universities from 94 countries.), and UN Global Compact, which fosters global student exchanges and research collaborations.
Industry Connections: The University works with industry organizations to provide students with internship and job opportunities. Partnerships include agreements with companies for industry-based learning and career services.
